Plug is a short film produced by Steambot studios that will be sold as a book+DVD package. It will include a beautiful 48 pages making of art book, and a DVD with the short film lasting 15 minutes and also more than 45 minutes of making -of and behind the scene. Written by David Levy and Hatem Benabdallah, directed by David Levy, a prominent concept artist in the entertainment industry, this short film combines a strong storyline, unique visuals and landscapes all this running at high speed aboard fast machines.

New Exodyssey trailer online!

The crew is happy to show you an exclusive new trailer of Exodyssey, which was created for a launch party at the SAT in Montreal last october. We've produced some exclusive illustrations and sequences here, using After Effects magic and camera projection experimentations. A big thank to Eric Los for his extended version of the great Exodyssey soundtrack. Enjoy!

BRINK first look!

Here is a preview of the artwork (super high-rez poster) we did a few months ago for the upcoming Brink videogame (Splash Damage/Bethesda). Skull face appears to be on the cover of the PC Zone magazine in UK this month. Hope you will like it!

Book your calendars NOW for an exciting and epic French canadian party in Montreal on October 6th, a book signing by the authors and a crazy presentation of Exodyssey at the SAT.

Steambot studios storms CG Con 2009!

With three presentations, the Steambot team took CG Con by a storm! Joel and David were seen all through the weekend: workshops, portfolio reviews with fellow artists and students, signing Exodyssey books and even improvising Comic Books sessions live with Farzad Varahramyan, and Phil Saunders!
After a presentation about teamwork and another one about speedpainting, the team finished with a bang, with a 3CH improvisation during which Mark Goerner even jumped in and took the Wacom pen off our hands!
Two copies of Exodyssey were given away to two friendly people in the crowd, who helped us choose the 3CH subject. Leftover Exodyssey prints were also sold on the spot, if you are interested in buying some more, stay tuned, as we have all you need... hoooo yes!
People even had a 1st glance at the "Exodyssey videogame proof of concept" (see previous post) that Austin's Bluepoint helped develop, running on a PS3!

Exodyssey : The Game!!! Any investor or publisher?

Steambot Studios and Bluepoint Games (Blast Factor), have recently collaborated on a proof of concept real-time demo on Sony Playstation 3, based on the universe of Exodyssey.

The prototype was done in a very short period of time and shows our intentions in terms of graphics and gameplay... We are now looking for a publisher and potential investors to start working on this next action-adventure AAA title. Bring it on!

Digital Art Veterans from Videogame, Film and Feature Animation lead new Austin Shop.
June 4, 2009 - Steambot Studios (Montreal, CAN) announced the formation of Steambot Studios Austin today. “We chose Austin not only because we love the city, but because we feel that there is an unique combination of talent and educational resources here that will allow our studio to attract top talent and continue to grow our business with clients like Electronic Arts, UbiSoft and Disney” said David Levy, Steambot CEO & Founder. “As a studio, we’re also committed to sharing our knowledge with future artists. In Austin, we have a rare opportunity to work with Roger Barcilon and the Gemini School of Visual Arts to train the entertainment artists of the future. It’s a win-win for us and the industry.”
Manny Carrasco, whose feature animation credits include Space Jam, Anastasia and Prince of Egypt will lead the Austin studio as Managing Partner. A 16 year veteran of the videogame and feature animation industries, Carrasco’s career includes working with studios including Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, Fox and Richard Rich. “Our entire team is excited to be working with the Steambot Studios founders (CEO David Levy, R&D Director Thierry Doizon, Visual Director Joel Dos Reis Viegas and Creative Director Sebastien Larroude ). They are incredible artists and innovators. Gemini School's Industry Day

Steambot and Gemini School present Industry Day 2009. The event will be held at Gemini on Thursday June 4th, David Levy and Joel Dos Reis Viegas will be in Austin, TX for a Book signing and a presentation of Exodyssey. Don't miss them at Borders Books on Saturday June 6th, the book will be available for purchase, but quantities are limited. Come meet the artists, get your copy signed and say "hi"!

First book review (positive!) by PARKA!
